Having assemblies at lunchtime promoting this is unacceptable. It should be mandated that the school allow parents enough time to either pull their child out of school on days like this especially if like us, we choose to shelter our kids from this type of obscenity.

We as parents should be the ones to delegate the time and place where WE teach our children about these difficult topics.

Some kids are still very emotionally immature and this type of assembly promoting and celebrating this is inappropriate in a middle school. Then we as parents are left to answer the many questions they may have at the end of the day. My child didn't even know what that all stood for and was not only shocked, but had questions a child of his age should never even be thinking about. Stop celebrating LGBTQ in schools and start teaching these kids that yes it is ok to be themselves, but it is NOT ok to flaunt it just as it is not ok for straight kids to be faulting their relationships when they are this young.

These are not high school or college kids, most of them aren't even teenagers yet. It is the administrations responsibility to keep our children safe and teach them math and science. It is the parents responsibility to teach them about adult relationships when the PARENT feels that their child is ready.
